Work Location:
Bradenton, FL (East Manatee Location) As part of this role, you will: The Dental and Billing Coding Specialist is responsible for accurate coding and billing dental procedures, ensuring the practice receives proper payment for services rendered. They also manage patient accounts, handle insurance claims, and communicate with patients and insurance companies.
Key Responsibilities:
Coding:
Assigning appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to dental procedures and diagnoses.
Billing:
Creating and submitting dental claims to insurance companies, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Claim Management:
Following up on claim status, handling denials, and resolving billing issues.
Patient Accounts:
Managing patient accounts, posting payments, and preparing patient statements.
Communication:
Communicating with patients, insurance companies, and other healthcare professionals regarding billing and coding issues.
Documentation:
Maintaining accurate and detailed records of patient treatments, insurance information, and billing data.
Skills and Qualities:
Proficiency in dental billing software (Dentrix) and electronic health records (EHR) systems. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of dental coding guidelines, insurance policies, and relevant regulations. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. What you will need to bring to this role: High School Graduate or GED minimum Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred Working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes (minimum of 1 year required) Coding Certification preferred, but must be able to obtain certification within 6 months of hire (or as assigned by management) Working knowledge in Managed Care, Government Payers, and Private Payers preferred If onsite position – Reliable transportation to/from site and ability to be moved between sites as assigned Ability to maintain patient confidentiality required In a broad scope, the Billing and Coding Specialist position focuses on the accuracy and completeness of diagnosis and procedures codes submitted on claims for quality documentation reporting and to maximize reimbursement. This role completes tracking and trending of denied claims, errors, and/or other assigned issues to be communicated to the appropriate Revenue Cycle leader.
