  • $61,548 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Mid-level 1 year Full Job Description The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The incumbent to this position would be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
  • Develop familiarity with the laws and rules regarding the eligibility for licenses and permits under the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law.
  • Review applications for licenses and permits to determine: if the application is complete; if the applicant and the applicant’s proposed location meet the statutory and regulatory requirements for the license or permit; and identify issues that would be grounds for further review or disapproval of the application.
  • Research agency records to determine licensing and disciplinary history of applicant’s proposed location.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public regarding general licensing issues.
  • Respond to agency staff regarding specific license and permit applications.
  • The candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication.
  • Identify deficiencies in applications, advise applicants of such deficiencies and review applicant’s responses to determine if deficiencies have been addressed.
  • Review arrest records of current and potential licensees.
  • Prepare detailed reports providing pertinent information regarding applications for the Licensing Board and/or the Members of the Authority (the “Full Board”) to allow the boards to make informed determinations on the applications.
  • Upload and/or scan in application documents into the licensing system.
  • Conduct follow-up investigations of applicants and/or proposed premises to obtain additional information or clarification as requested by the Licensing Board or the Full Board.
  • Other duties as assigned. The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS)
  • and applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for this position: Required experience: Three years of full-time experience in a position where your primary responsibility is providing customer service in the form of explaining programs, policies, and/or procedures, resolving problems, or reconciling accounts.

Applicants with degrees or college semester credit hours will be credited with experience as follows:

  • 30 semester credit hours
  • 1 year experience
  • 60 semester credit hours
  • 2 years’ experience
  • 90 semester credit hours
  • 3 years’ experienceApplicants may also be appointed to this position if currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title OR are a current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Grade 10 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.

1 of the Civil Service Law.

will be appointed on a permanent non-competitive basis and will begin a probationary period.

At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected that

NY HELPS

employees will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to take an exam. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a

NY HELPS

title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

Telecommuting options may be available pending successful completion of required training and supervisory approvals.
