Within the USO, our administrative operations are primarily housed in the Trinity Washington Building located in downtown Atlanta. Our Information Technology Services (ITS) division is located in Athens. The University System of Georgia Shared Services Center (SSC) is located in Sandersville. The Georgia Public Library System is located in Atlanta. The Georgia Archives is located in Morrow. The State of Georgia Records Center is located in Austell. Department Information Created in 1918 as the repository for official state government records, the Georgia Archives preserves the past and promotes lifelong success by collecting, preserving, and providing access to the permanently valuable records of Georgia and by providing education programs, workshops, and classes. The Archives maintains four special climate-controlled vaults, conservation and scanning labs, research spaces, a library, and two classrooms at its facility in Morrow, adjacent to Clayton State University and the National Archives at Atlanta. This position is 32 hours per week Tuesday – Saturday. Job Summary This is an entry level position responsible for assisting in reformatting records in the reformatting lab and for assisting visitors at the welcome desk. Responsibilities Scan and digitally enhance records.
Create metadata and upload records.
Answer telephone, greet visitors, and provide information and assistance.
Process payments using cash register and credit card machine.
Provide administrative support. Required Qualifications Associates degree required.
More than one year of experience performing clerical or administrative work in an office environment required.
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with coursework in archives and/or a certificate from the Georgia Archives Institute. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of basic financial procedures.
Knowledge of the operation of cash register and credit card machine.
Knowledge of modern office principles and practices.
Knowledge of computers and job-related software.
Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
Knowledge of history of the United States and Georgia.
Skill in analyzing data.
Skill in decision making and problem solving.
Skill in interpersonal relations.
Skill in oral and written communication.
