FOOD SERVICE ASSOCIATE FOR COMMUNITY SCHOOLS AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS

School Year 2025-2026Positions are contingent upon program enrollment and funding. These positions are designed to place Food Service Associates at schools where students are served a meal during after-school hours. Staff hired may work up to five days per week for a maximum of 2 hours each day. Job sharing will be considered.

Programs are currently held at the following elementary school: Angelo, Arnone, Baker, Brookfield, Davis, Downey, George, Gilmore, Hancock, Kennedy, and Raymond Schools and at the following middle schools: Ashfield, East, and South.

QUALIFICATIONS

1.Must be ServSafe and/or food handler certified or become certified within 2 months of start.2.Demonstrate a history of properly following USDA meal pattern guidelines.3.Previous experience working in an after-school program preferred.4.Preference will be given to BPS Food Service personnel whose daytime assignment is also a Program location.5.Ability to communicate in a professional manner with the Food Service Afterschool Program Lead, Community Schools Program Supervisors and students.6.Ability to accurately complete production records and other required paperwork as requested.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Preheat oven and heat prepared meals to proper temperature.2.Safely operate and utilize the warmer to keep meals warm.3.Serve meals to students and ensure students maintain an orderly line.4.Follow USDA meal pattern guidelines.5.Ensure kitchen and cafeteria are clean and ready for the next day.6.Notify Community School Program Supervisors of any absences in a timely fashion.7.Communicate with the Food Service Afterschool Program Lead and/or Food Service Director to ensure the after-school program orders are placed for Sysco, Sid Wainer and Garelick Milk8.Adhere to required EEC regulations for funded programs including completion of a required Background Record Check every three years, annual completion of EEC Essentials Training Modules, and submission of requested staff records to a confidential file in Human Resources.9.Other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director, Director of Community Schools, Coordinator of Extended Day, the 21st Century Coordinator, and/or Program Site Supervisors
