Part-Time District Clerk/Records Access Officer 2.5 2.5 out of 5 stars Amityville, NY 11701 Part-Time District Clerk Summary The Amityville Union Free School District is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, professional individual to serve as part-time District Clerk to the Board of Education. The District Clerk plays a critical administrative role in maintaining official records, coordinating board meetings and elections, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Job Description Discharges of duties of District Clerk in accordance with Section 2121 of New York State Education Law (see list of statutory duties of the District Clerk) as follows: 25 hours per week flexible work schedule that supports the school board and district needs to be established by the chosen candidate in conjunction with the Board of Education. Required to work additional hours leading up to and on the day of the library budget/trustee vote in April and the school district budget/trustee vote in May. Will attend monthly evening Board and Policy meetings. Serve as the official recorder for all Board of Education meetings and hearings; prepare and maintain minutes, resolutions and official documentation. Publish and distribute all public and legal notices for the school district. Disseminates, posts and publishes accordingly. Coordinate logistics for all board meetings, including scheduling, venue setup and technology needs. Acts as registrar and oversees the Amityville library and school district elections, budget votes, and special referendums in compliance with NYS Education Law or applicable state law. Training will be provided. Maintain and safeguard all official records and documents of the district. Provide clerical and administrative support to the Board of Education. Act as a liaison between the Board, administration, and the public. Ensure compliance with Freedom of Information (FOIL) and Open Meetings Law. Required to attend District Clerk training by the New York School Board Association with the cost to be incurred by the District. May also be required to attend additional conferences or training as necessary. Reports directly to the Board of Education. Qualifications Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity. Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite. Notary Public or the ability to pass the test within 90 days. The District will incur the cost of the Notary Public test.
