Grounds Maintenance Worker Position Available In Warren, New Jersey

Grounds Maintenance Worker Blair Academy 2 Park Street, Blairstown, NJ 07825 Blair Academy is seeking to hire a full-time employee to its department of facilities. This position will be responsible for general grounds maintenance of the School’s main campus, golf course, athletic fields, faculty residences and campus woodland areas. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in golf course and school grounds maintenance trades. This position is non-exempt, essential and reports directly to the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor. Primary responsibilities : Maintain and care for school grounds; Prepare seeding or transplanting beds by cultivating soil and adding fertilizer or chemicals, if needed; Plant and prune seeds, bulbs, seedlings and shrubs; Inspect flowers, shrubs and trees for evidence of insects, fungi and other pests and use appropriate means to correct problems; Assist with snow and ice removal and other emergency duties to ensure the safety of the School community, to include evenings and weekends; Adjust and repair equipment such as mowers, spreaders, tractors and irrigation systems; Operate school equipment and vehicles as needed or required safely; Assist with golf course maintenance to include mowing, weedeating, blowing and hand watering; and Assist with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma; Minimum of three years of experience in a grounds maintenance or golf course role preferred; Must be able to work some weekends and nights as needed; Certification as a state pesticide applicator within one year of employment; Must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing ; Ability to multitask and work independently and as part of a team; Ability to lift and carry 60-pounds of materials; Must have excellent customer service experience; and Mechanical skills or background a plus. Salary & other compensation: Base pay range $23-$28 per hour. Salary dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to education and experience.
