Job Description

Spray Tech 4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 1995 Calusa Lakes Blvd, Nokomis, FL 34275 Spray Technician – Calusa Lakes Golf Club – Nokomis, FL SUMMARY The Spray Technician will report to the Golf Course Superintendent and will oversee a comprehensive program of chemical and fertilizer applications. They will perform insect, weed and disease identification to the golf course and its related areas. The position will assist in directing associates that work in this area in a safe, effective and efficient manner to provide superior playing conditions, continuous development and a strong team environment.

HOURS/DAYS

Position requires the individual to maintain flexible availability, will work weekends and holidays and may be required to return to the job site at odd hours under emergency situations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Will coordinate internally with the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and Irrigation Technician. Must be in compliance with and support a drug free workplace. Must maintain the chemical and fertilizer storage and mix load areas in compliance with county, state and federal regulations. Will remain current with personal safety, environmental safety, maintenance of application equipment and laws regarding pesticide applications. Requires accurate follow-up of all written documentation of pesticide use. Responsible for reading, understanding and keeping current Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Responsible for compiling reports of pesticide and fertilizer usage. Will provide monthly inventory of all pesticide, fertilizer and related products and ensure its accuracy. Provide accurate and timely information to other operating departments and staff to facilitate communication and the flow of information. Must be able to handle and prioritize multiple functions and responsibilities. Exhibit commitment to time management through expressed goals and objectives. Pro-actively solve problems, develop and propose solutions to problems that occur. Anticipate needs of associates and membership and react. Will support all aspects of an IPM program and illustrate its importance. Will attend all meetings as appropriately directed. Must remain current with industry trends and new turfgrass management technology. Exhibit leadership in the Audubon International Cooperative Sanctuary program as it applies to this area. Must be well groomed and maintain a neat, clean and well kept appearance. Must have a pleasant and outgoing personality and be able to intelligently communicate with members, residents and staff. Will supervise the general safety and security of the maintenance facility, accepting responsibility for the buildings and its assets. Daily accomplishment of a clean, healthy and safe work environment, one that abides by this departments standards, OSHA and all local authority standards. Will follow all corporate and departmental policies and procedures in a strct manner and require same from staff.

This position must possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written oral instructions and the ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.

EXPERIENCE

Requires previous golf course experience. Requires one year of chemical application experience. Must possess or obtain within the first six months of employment, a current State of Florida Turf and Ornamental pesticide license. Requires basic computer skills as it relates to industry specific technology. Requires knowledge of and/or the ability to play the game of golf and understand how job performance affects the playing conditions of the golf course.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, business correspondence, and memos as well as the ability to write business correspondence, memos and the like. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to members, vendors, and other employees of the organization is a must.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES

Requires a valid State of Florida driver’s license.
