Indian River County
Performs technical work in engineering construction inspection. This position works closely with contractors to monitor and verify installations are in accordance with approved contract documents. This is a skilled, technical position, working independently under the general direction of the Roadway Production Manager.
Essential Job Duties
Conduct regular inspections of construction sites and engineering projects.
Ensurepliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Review and interpret blues and technical drawings.
Document and report any findings or discrepancies.
Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and project managers.
Perform tests on materials and structures to ensure quality standards.
Verify measurements and specifications against project requirements.
Monitor ongoing projects to ensure adnce to timelines.
Conduct safety audits and implement corrective actions.
Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records.
Rmend improvements and corrective measures when necessary.
Assist in training new inspectors or staff members.
Typical Requirements
Education and Experience:
High school diploma/GED, plus two (2) years’ experience in construction or engineering inspection, or an equivalentbination of formal education and working experience.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification for Inspectors and Contractors preferred
FDOT Intermediate MOT preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Knowledge of:
the principles, methods, materials and equipmentmon to building, roadway and sidewalk construction. applicable legal and administrative regulations relative to subdivision, utility and general County construction. the basic principles of civil engineering as they relate to County government and construction. Safety protocols and procedures.
Ability to:
perform duties related to the inspection of construction site and engineering projects. review and interpret a variety of blues, plans and specifications applicable to County/ FDOT construction specifications and requirements. make detailed technical inspections and enforce regulations firmly, tactfully and impartially. review/confirm field drainage calculations for driveway elevations and make judgment decisions concerning culvert/pipe installation.
effectively use electronicmunication, spreadsheets and word documents to record and document work activities.
proficient in using inspection tools and equipment.anize and manage multiple projects simultaneously pay attention to detail with strong observational skills.
perform physical tasks related to inspections.
Supplemental Information
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is performed outside under various types of weather conditions. Must be able to traverse uneven surfaces typical to natural terrain, roadway and site development construction sites.
Must be able to lift and carry 20-lbs.
