SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The electrical superintendent supervises the planning and installation of an electrical system in new or existing construction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Includes the following, but are not limited to:

  • Plan work schedule by assigning tasks to employees.
  • Order materials and tools. Schedule delivery of major material items.
  • Attending job site meetings.
  • Supervise the installation, and verify it is being done by the contract documents and code requirements.
  • Call for inspections and accompany the inspector during walk-through, noting violations.
  • Notify the general Contractor or contact administrator of any code violations, omissions, conflicts, or deviations in the installation documents.
  • Administer and enforce the Safety Program, Drug-Free Workplace Program, and Hazardous Communication Program on the job site.
  • Work with manufacturers, owner’s representatives, or owners to ensure a proper installation.
  • Know employee capabilities and place them in an applicable task.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise a crew of electrical employees in his/her jobsite.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Possess a Journeyman or Master Electrician license. Must have a minimum of four years of formal training in an approved apprenticeship program. Must have a minimum of eight years of field experience. Must be CPR, First Aid OSHA 10 hour, and Hilti Certified. Must possess the ability to work well with people in all work levels and trades, especially personnel in their charge. Must have leadership qualities. Must be knowledgeable with the operation of all tools and equipment on the job including but not limited to cable tugger, conduit benders, lifts, KO sets, backhoe, trencher, water pumps, cranes, generators, etc. Must be able to interpret drawings, specifications, other contract documents, wiring diagrams, manufacturer’s information, and other job-related directives. Must be able to identify price changes in the contract. Must be able to make legible sketches and relate information to employees. Possess a valid Driver’s License. EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE

Must have over 4 years of experience working on commercial electrical projects. Previous supervisory experience is required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to effectively use basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide, multiply) to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Journeyman or Master electrician license. Hilti or Cadweld certified, OSHA 10-hour training, forklift training, First Aid/CPR certification. OTHER SKILLS and

Must be highly organized and a self-starter.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Manually dexterous and skillful. Climb 6-to-40-foot ladders and 6-to-70-foot scaffolds. Maintain balance at any height. Reach and work overhead for extended periods. Bend, crouch, and crawl for extended periods. Manually lift and carry 50 pounds, using proper lifting methods. Push, pull, and reposition activities. Hear warning alarm signals at least 50 feet away. Hear directions within 10 feet when given in a loud voice. Have an unimpaired vision, with or without corrective lenses. Distinguish between colors.
