Role Overview:

The Director of Construction is responsible for leading and executing all field operations across multiple high-end custom and semi-custom home builds. This role requires a highly engaged field leader with deep construction knowledge, technical problem-solving skills, and a strong commitment to quality, training, and accountability. You will mentor and rigorously oversee Project Managers, directly manage select projects, drive scheduling discipline, enforce quality systems, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of exceptional homes. This is a customer-facing role, requiring leadership presence both on-site and in meetings with high-end clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide executive leadership across all construction operations, including scheduling, field staff management, and vendor coordination. Actively manage a subset of high-profile or complex projects as part of your direct workload. Lead warranty oversight and partner with the warranty team to reduce repeat issues and manage client expectations. Own and refine internal systems to ensure time, budget, and quality goals are met consistently. Be actively present on job sites, conducting field audits, job walks, and milestone inspections to ensure quality and compliance. Manage and mentor a team of Project Managers, Superintendents, and field personnel. Establish and enforce field standards, accountability systems, and PM performance protocols. Oversee the successful execution of multiple projects simultaneously, from pre-construction to final walkthrough. Collaborate closely with homeowners, architects, and internal design teams to ensure the client’s vision is realized. Implement and enforce quality control systems and field safety standards across all active job sites. Build, roll out, and maintain checklists and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key construction milestones and closeout activities. Maintain detailed project schedules and resource plans; ensure efficient allocation of labor and materials. Resolve field issues, delays, and site-specific challenges with creative and cost-effective solutions. Approve job cost tracking, change orders, and ensure adherence to construction budgets. Lead hiring, training, coaching, and performance management for construction team members. Represent the company professionally with clients, vendors, and community stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience:

10+ years of progressive experience in residential construction, including 5+ years in a leadership role overseeing luxury or semi-custom home projects. Strong technical understanding of construction sequencing, trade coordination, warranty resolution, and field-level troubleshooting. Deep understanding of Georgia residential building codes, permitting processes, and local construction practices. Proven track record of managing complex custom builds, including basement foundations and sloped or in-fill lots. Experience developing and enforcing PM onboarding programs, SOPs, punch/warranty protocols, and closeout strategies. Strong expertise in high-end materials, finishes, and construction techniques. Ability to build trust with high-net-worth clients and navigate luxury client expectations. Proficiency with Buildertrend or other construction management software. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Demonstrated experience driving accountability in the field and coaching underperforming team members. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to project sites across the greater Georgia area.

Compensation & Benefits:
