Construction Estimator Slash Pines Construction, Sebring, FL 33870 Job Overview Are you a sharp, detail-oriented construction professional who knows how to bring budgets to life on paper and on-site? Slash Pines Construction is seeking a Construction Estimator/2020 Designer to join our custom home building/remodeling team in Central Florida. Responsibilities Assist in preconstruction planning and schedule forecasting Analyze blueprints, specifications and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to clarify scope and pricing Create material estimates within the company computer system in a consistent and thorough manner as needed by the team. Work with the team in a respectful, professional manner – always mindful of providing good customer service, clear communication and follow-up, and professional accountability. Handle incoming requests in a systematic, productive manner; and maintain and update information which will provide team with status of their estimate/takeoff requests Recommend value-engineering options without sacrificing quality Complete daily project updates/logs in Buildertrend Communicate projected estimate summaries clearly to leadership and clients Attend site inspections and generate detailed scope of work using Buildertrend When provided, carefully examine blueprints, specifications, and other project documents to understand scope of work Responsible for creating material takeoffs for lumber, framing, siding, interior doors and trim, or other materials. Obtain quotes from subcontractors, suppliers, etc. Analyze quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure alignment with current market pricing and determine the most competitive and reliable options Contemplate and communicate means and methods required to perform the project/work Work closely with the account management team to liaise with clients to explain estimates and scopes of work Provide regular communication using estimating management software Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hours and related cost data or effect cost reductions Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimate Organizes and manages a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized Analyzes completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs. Prepares and participates in bid and quote reviews with members of the team Maintains technical knowledge by attending educations workshops and relevant professional development training Design functional and beautiful kitchens, bathrooms, additions, media walls, and more Create detailed renderings to bring projects to life Engage with potential clients, confidently present design concepts, and encourage them through the decision-making process Utilize industry-specific software like 2020, Chief Architect, or AutoCAD to develop designs Collaborate with clients, project managers, and construction teams to ensure seamless experience Performing other tasks assigned by management Skills Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings Experience with estimating software (e.g., Buildertrend, or similar) Excellent communication, organizational skills, attention to detail, customer service and relationship-building skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates simultaneously. Has the ability to analyze complex or diverse information Technical writing skills and attention to detail Thorough understanding of cost accounting principles and procedures Proficient in mathematics, statistics, and data analysis Ability to multi-task and handle multiple competing priorities while meeting deadlines Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Excellent written communication skills and interpersonal communication skills Exceptional time management skills Proven drive, energy, motivation, strong ability to communicate with and motivate potential clients A confident, engaging, and client-focused approach Ability to think creatively and solve problems Knowledge of construction trades and industry standards Current Motor vehicle license Ability to layout walls/doors on site This role is essential for ensuring that our projects are completed on time and within budget while maintaining high-quality standards in construction practices.
