Qualifications:
Must have excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook with the ability to become proficient in other construction software applications. Strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and work on various duties efficiently. Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must.

Position Summary:
- The Estimating and Pre-Construction departments are responsible for producing project-specific construction estimates and preliminary layouts based on written and/or oral instructions from our clients. Your role in this process will be as follows:
- Develop accurate and timely electrical construction estimates on which we base competitive bids and proposals for our client-base of General Contractors, Owners, Developers and end-users. Duties
- Analyze drawings, specifications and RFPs, present your prepared project proposals and bids to potential clients.
- Attend job walks; pre-bid meetings; collaborations and conferences with clients and design professionals.
- Prepare detailed estimating take-offs.
- Analyze and evaluate bids from subcontractors and quotes from vendors, with a focus on complete and competitive submissions, coordinating with Purchasing as needed.
- Develop achievable and profitable project budgets based on estimated costs and project timelines to include communicating with clients to refine project scopes.
- Anticipate cost increases and incorporate them into bids while identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Determine and price value-engineered alternatives to plans and specifications.
- Perform budget pricing from schematic drawings and narrative.
- Draft scope letters, proposals and vendor solicitations.
- Support the Chief Estimator with the functioning of the Estimating Department; the education and development of junior personnel; on-going development and maintenance of computerized estimating programs and databases; congenial relations with clients and vendors.
- Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed and calm manner. Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of general electrical design and engineering concepts. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering preferred.
- Minimum of three years’ experience as an estimator preparing detailed electrical estimates, including medium voltage projects
- Strong research and comprehension skills relating to the National Electrical Code
- Experience with either Trimble’s Accubid Anywhere or Accubid Classic estimating software
Additional Essential Functions:
- Support the Chief Estimator with the functioning of the Estimating Department; the education and development of junior personnel; on-going development and maintenance of computerized estimating programs and databases; congenial relations with clients and vendors.
- Work alongside other estimators, project managers and project engineers on change-orders and cost-to-complete estimates of on-going projects.
- Help create and communicate company standards for estimating electrical design/build and plans and specs work.
- Coordinate structural, mechanical and electrical consultants’ designs with architectural designs.
- Furnish blueprints, copies, reports, mailings, etc., as necessary.
- Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed and calm manner.
- Additional duties as assigned by management
Minimum Requirements:
- A high school diploma or GED is required, but a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar studies is preferred.
- At least 3 years’ experience with design/build projects is preferred.
- Knowledge and proficiency with Code requirements and basic electrical engineering calculations; Voltage-drop, Ohm’s law, conduit-fill, wire ampacity, de-rating, etc.
- Extensive experience with the following software: o Bluebeam / On Screen Takeoff o Adobe Acrobat o Microsoft Project (scheduling software) o Microsoft Excel o Microsoft Office o Microsoft Power Point o Microsoft Word o Microsoft Outlook o Microsoft Windows o Microsoft Internet Explorer o One of the major computerized estimating and ERP programs (e.g., Vista, Accubid, etc.).
- Analytical, problem-solving mentality
- Team player, self-motivated, gets along well with supervisors, peers and subordinates.

- Starting Salary Range $60K depending on experience
