Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Estimator is responsible for determining the manufacturing steps and processes, costs, and lead time necessary to produce a variety of fasteners. The Estimator must prepare formal quotes and be able to correspond with customers and vendors.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Determine the manufacturing steps and processes necessary for the specified part, to include equipment requirements, programming requirements, set up operations, material, labor, and other items necessary to produce the part. Calculate production costs using labor, raw material, processing, and vendor price estimates. Prepare formal price quote for management and customers using estimation worksheets and Paperless Parts quoting software. Correspond with vendors regarding material and service prices for the best value – includes creating and updating pricing lists for materials. Communicate with customers on quotations. Actively and continually seek opportunities to improve estimation methodology test/inspection methods, by reducing effort and/or increasing efficiency.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist with identifying and resolving quotation issues. Assist in the preparation of procedures and work instructions, as needed, for Estimation activities. Must be a self-starter and able to work efficiently and effectively under limited supervision.
Education, Experience, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to read and understand blueprint/engineering drawings. Experience in Solidworks, AutoCAD, and/or Fusion 360. Understanding and working knowledge of metals manufacturing processes and materials. Experience reading and understanding customer specifications. Experience with Paperless Parts quoting software is a plus. Strong communication skills – verbal & written. Attention to detail, critical thinker, problem-solving skills. Team player / ability to work well in a team environment.
