We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join our growing preconstruction team. About the opportunity As a Construction Estimator at Gardner/Fox, you will play a key role in the planning and budgeting phase of both commercial and residential construction projects. You will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates, analyzing subcontractor proposals, and supporting the project team in securing new work and managing budgets effectively. Prepare accurate and detailed conceptual and hard bid cost estimates for commercial and residential projects Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documents to prepare comprehensive take-offs and scopes of work Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for labor, materials, and services Develop cost breakdowns and pricing schedules, factoring in labor, materials, equipment, and overhead Collaborate with architects, project managers, and clients during preconstruction to align scope and budget Identify potential cost-saving opportunities, risks, and value engineering alternatives Maintain historical cost data and databases for future estimating and benchmarking Participate in project handoff meetings and support construction teams during buyout and early phases Benefits and rewards This is a brilliant opportunity to work for a multi-state construction firm excellent opportunities internally. You will be working on large, interesting, and technically challenging projects as well as small, intricate time-challenging projects. They are looking to pay between $80,000 – $100,000 + full benefits. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of experience in estimating (commercial and/or residential) Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, building systems, and market pricing Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar tools) Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills Experience with both design-build and competitively bid projects Familiarity with Philadelphia-area construction market and subcontractor base LEED or sustainable design estimating a plus
