The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and have experience in various construction techniques. As an Insulator, you will be responsible for installing insulation materials in residential and commercial buildings, ensuring energy efficiency and comfort for occupants.
Duties Job Description:
Insulation Removal & Installation Scope of Work:
This project involves the complete removal of existing attic insulation and the installation of new insulation to improve energy efficiency, air quality, and overall comfort of the home.
Job Steps:
Preparation:
Set up containment barriers as needed to protect interior spaces. Ensure proper safety equipment is worn, including respirators, gloves, and suits. Turn off HVAC systems to prevent contamination. •
Insulation Removal:
Carefully vacuum and remove all existing insulation (blown-in or batt) using high-powered vacuum equipment. Bag and dispose of all old insulation material in accordance with local environmental regulations. Inspect attic space for rodent activity, mold, or damage during removal process. Remove and seal any accessible gaps, cracks, or penetrations with expanding foam or caulk (air sealing). •
Cleaning & Prep:
Clean attic floor and prepare substrate for new insulation. Sanitize or deodorize if rodent presence or contamination is found (optional add-on). Ensure all soffit vents are clear and properly ventilated. •
New Insulation Installation:
Install new blown-in fiberglass or cellulose insulation to desired R-value (typically R30-R49 depending on region and code). Ensure even distribution and consistent coverage across entire attic floor. Install baffles or ventilation chutes as needed to maintain airflow at eaves. Final walk-through to confirm proper insulation depth and coverage. •
Materials Used:
