Machinery Manufacturing has an opening for a Fabricator. This position is responsible to the Machinery Manufacturing Shop Supervisor for the safe, efficient performance of all duties. Performs precision cutting of a variety of materials by the use of torches, plasma, cutting tables, iron work and shear. Forms metals using heating, forging, and bending. Builds machines and components with and without formal drawings using all forms of metal working machinery and all types of welders. Will be capable of welding in awkward positions such as heights, cramped areas and from ladders. Individual must be educated in shop math and blueprint reading. Must have five years’ experience in fabrication and three years’ experience in assembling equipment. Must be certified in at least one type of welding. Must possess a thorough knowledge of setting up and the operation of all welding and metal working equipment. Must be capable of building jigs and developing sheet metal layouts. Must be willing to work overtime during the week and weekends. Interested employees may pick up an application in the Main Clock House Building on the Sonoco Communication Board.
