On-Site Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Agent to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the procurement of goods and services to support company operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing within a manufacturing or distribution environment and a proven ability to build supplier relationships, manage inventory levels, and drive cost-effective purchasing strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Vendor Management:
Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and vendors. Evaluate vendors based on cost, quality, reliability, and service.
Negotiation:
Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to secure favorable agreements and maximize cost savings.
Procurement Documentation:
Ensure accurate and complete documentation of all purchasing activities in accordance with company policies.
Inventory Oversight:
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate timely delivery of materials to maintain production schedules and avoid shortages.
Logistics Coordination:
Work with vendors to manage delivery schedules and resolve any shipping issues or discrepancies.
Cost Evaluation:
Perform cost analysis and identify opportunities to reduce expenses and improve procurement processes.
Process Improvement:
Continuously assess procurement procedures to enhance efficiency and value.
Compliance & Reporting:
Ensure adherence to internal controls and maintain up-to-date records of vendor performance and purchase history.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
Experience:
3-5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing or distribution setting.
Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Familiarity with reviewing and negotiating contracts. Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Certifications:
A professional purchasing certification (such as CPP) is a plus.
