Job Description
A global sourcing company is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to join its Kansas Division. This role is responsible for procuring products in alignment with customer requirements and information provided by the Customer Service and Sales departments. The Purchasing Specialist serves as the primary liaison with suppliers for all matters related to sourcing and purchasing, including product sourcing, price negotiations, freight coordination, and compliance with customs regulations.

Job Description:
Source products based on inquiries from Customer Service or Sales, including customer RFQs, forecasted requirements, and related communications. Expand product knowledge to support pricing negotiations, suggest cost-saving opportunities, and better understand purchased items. Run forecast modules regularly to prevent shortages and make purchases accordingly, ensuring inventory aligns with customer forecasts and internal needs. Issue Purchase Orders in line with customer demands, internal requirements, and projected volumes, following the company’s Purchasing Procedures. Initiate APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) as required. Manage all purchasing activities for secondary processing, including RFQs, PO issuance, and delivery follow-ups. Drive cost-reduction initiatives in partnership with suppliers. Handle negotiations for freight, customs clearance, and coordinate USMCA documentation. Organize periodic inventory management meetings to ensure operational alignment. File claims with carriers for damage or shortages and inform QA when necessary. Issue Purchase Orders for office and warehouse supplies as per approved purchasing protocols. Accept and perform additional duties as assigned by the company’s management.
Qualifications:
College Diploma required as a minimum. Experience in the material acquisition field is needed. Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite. Exposure to any kind of MRP system is an asset. Motivated/Independent worker to achieve divisional/corporate goals in a timely fashion is a key attribute. Understanding that situations of our suppliers/customers and be able to work with suppliers to resolve. Possess excellent communication skills both written and oral.
