Nursing Full Job Description Key Responsibilities:

Assist in Nursing Operations Assist the Director of Nursing in the planning, development, and implementation of nursing policies, procedures, and protocols in accordance with state and federal regulations, and the facility’s standards of care. Supervision & Staff Management Provide leadership and supervision to nursing staff, ensuring proper staffing levels, effective teamwork, and adherence to the facility’s operational goals. Conduct staff performance evaluations, provide coaching, mentoring, and support professional development. Patient Care Support the delivery of patient care by collaborating with the nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure that mental health patients receive appropriate medical care, treatment, and intervention. Clinical Oversight Oversee and ensure that nursing care is in compliance with evidence-based practices and protocols for mental health care. Monitor patient outcomes and adjust treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal care. Quality Assurance & Compliance Assist with the implementation of quality assurance programs, including reviewing patient charts, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies (e.g., state health departments, Joint Commission standards). Emergency Response & Crisis Management Be prepared to respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies. Provide guidance to nursing staff in managing high-stress situations, such as patient de-escalation, crisis interventions, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. Staff Education & Training Organize and conduct ongoing educational opportunities for nursing staff, focusing on mental health nursing, de-escalation techniques, crisis management, and updates on relevant laws and regulations. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with physicians, psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare providers to ensure cohesive patient care. Act as a liaison between nursing staff and the administration for any concerns or improvements related to nursing care. Resource Management Assist in maintaining nursing supplies, equipment, and medications, ensuring their availability and proper management within the facility. Policy Development & Implementation Contribute to the development of facility policies that promote patient safety, dignity, and respect, ensuring compliance with mental health care standards.

Qualifications:
Education & Certification:

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of [FL]. National certification in psychiatric/mental health nursing (e.g., PMHN) preferred. Assistant Director of Nursing or equivalent leadership experience is highly desirable.

Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in nursing, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role in a mental health or psychiatric setting. Experience with patient care management in a mental health facility is preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

Strong clinical and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities. Ability to work well in high-stress environments and handle crisis situations calmly and effectively. Familiarity with mental health care regulations, including HIPAA, and patient rights. Proficient in the use of healthcare management software and electronic health records (EHR). Compassionate, empathetic, and dedicated to providing quality care to patients with mental health conditions. Level II AHCA clearance

Working Conditions:

Full-time, salaried position. Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed. Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes high-stress environment with patients who may have complex mental health needs.
