Job Description

Northwestern College is seeking applicants for a full-time, 12-month position as assistant athletics director for facilities and operations. Join the excellent Red Raider athletic department, which has claimed 16 GPAC regular season and tournament titles in the past two years and sent 16 teams to the NAIA postseason. The individual will serve on the athletics leadership team with responsibilities including:

  • Manage day-to-day operations and scheduling of indoor and outdoor Raider athletic facilities. This includes the Rowenhorst Student Center & DeWitt Physical Fitness Center, Juffer Fieldhouse, Bultman Center, De Valois Stadium, and outdoor soccer complex.
  • Serve on the VP for athletics leadership team.
  • Plan, organize, lead and supervise a comprehensive intramural program.
  • Provide on-call coverage for the RSC, Juffer Fieldhouse and Bultman Center.
  • Hire, train, supervise, develop and evaluate a staff of RSC manager and 25-35 student employees in supervisor of the DeWitt Physical Fitness Center, Juffer Fieldhouse, and intramural programs.
  • Create and administer shared facility schedules in partnership with local school and community recreation.
  • Coordinate with athletic teams that utilize the DeWitt Fitness Center to conduct practices, training sessions or competitions.
  • Oversee maintenance of cardio and strength equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with custodial and maintenance staff to maintain an exceptional and safe facility experience for guests.
  • Oversee set up and supervision of special events in the RSC and Juffer Fieldhouse.
  • Assist with athletic game day preparation and game management.
  • Manage and prepare annual budget for the RSC, Juffer Fieldhouse and intramurals.
  • Serve as football game day manager.
  • Manage GPAC and NAIA postseason events, including the submission of bid process. Serve as the NAIA tournament director.
  • Oversee athletic concessions.
  • Oversee implementation of specific new software programs that enhance processes within Red Raider athletics.
  • Oversee athletic building capital project committees.
  • Oversee arbiter-related items specific to official needs for all sports.

A master’s degree in sport management or a related field is preferred, but all qualified candidates for the position will be considered.
