As a Warehouse Team Member specializing in forklift operation within our food manufacturing company, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient and safe movement of materials and products within our warehouse and/or manufacturing facility. Your primary responsibility will be operating a forklift to load, unload, and move materials as per organizational requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Forklift Operation:
Safely and efficiently operate a forklift to handle incoming and outgoing materials and products.
Load and unload materials from trucks, pallets, racks, and shelves using the forklift.
Transport materials to designated storage areas or production lines as per work orders or instructions.
Conduct pre-operational checks on the forklift to ensure its proper functioning.
Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating the forklift to prevent accidents or injuries.
Inventory Management:
Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records by recording incoming and outgoing materials.
Perform periodic physical counts of inventory to reconcile discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
Identify and report any inventory shortages, damages, or discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
Warehouse Support:
Support warehouse operations by performing various tasks such as picking, packing, and labeling as needed.
Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of tasks and efficient workflow.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse area to promote a safe working environment.
Quality and Compliance:
Handle materials and products with care to prevent damage or contamination, particularly in a food manufacturing environment.
Adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
Report any quality issues, safety hazards, or non-compliance incidents to supervisors immediately.
Flexibility to work overtime and non-standard hours as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Certifications and Experience:
High school diploma or GED.
Previous experience working in food manufacturing or a similar production environment, preferred.
Proven experience operating a forklift in a warehouse or manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Familiarity with food safety regulations (FSA, USDA) and quality assurance practices (GMPs).
Ability to operate equipment and machinery safely and effectively.
Must have the ability to obtain forklift certification.
Knowledge of safety regulations and practices related to forklift operation.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects as required in the production process.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Work involves daily and frequent exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, odors, darkness and/or poor lighting, noise, and vibration. Seasonal exposure to weather elements to include, but not limited to, extreme temperatures, wetness, and humidity.
Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks and hazards, such as working around mechanical equipment, mechanical hazards, forklifts, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, fire and explosives hazards, communicable diseases.
Position requires the ability to stand; walking around office, warehouse, and plant; lifting and carrying packages up to 50 pounds; utilizing fine dexterity; and reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting on a daily basis.
