Status Full Time Job Summary Two vacant positions The Grant Specialist position within Sponsored Programs is designed to support the administration, management, and oversight of grant proposals and funding opportunities. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations while facilitating the successful acquisition and management of grant funding. The position is categorized into three levels—Grant Specialist I, Grant Specialist II, and Grant Specialist III—each with increasing levels of responsibility, expertise, and independence.

Grant Specialist I:

Entry-level position focused on learning the fundamentals of grant management. Responsibilities include assisting with proposal preparation, conducting research, and supporting pre and post-award activities under supervision.

Grant Specialist II:

Mid-level position requiring a deeper understanding of grant processes. Responsibilities include independently managing smaller grants, providing training to staff and faculty, and taking a more active role in proposal preparation.

Grant Specialist III :

Senior-level position with advanced expertise in grant management. Responsibilities include overseeing complex grant proposals, leading training session with staff and faculty, and serving as a primary point of contact for faculty regarding grant-related inquiries. Essential Job Duties Assist faculty and staff in the preparation and submission of grant proposals, including review of the budget, narrative, other associated documents, and compliance with funding agency guidelines Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations, policies, and guidelines related to grant funding, including federal, state, and institutional requirements Support the administration of awarded grants, including monitoring, and compliance with grant terms and conditions Provide training and guidance to faculty and staff on submission processes, and compliance issues Work closely with various departments, including finance, legal, and academic units, to facilitate effective grant management and communication Maintain accurate records of grant submissions, awards, and related documentation to ensure transparency and accountability Manage the submission process for grant applications, including electronic submissions through various grant management systems Perform other duties assigned upon request Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training) A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., public administration, business, finance, or a related discipline) is required. Advanced degrees may be preferred for higher-level positions Physical Demands Ability to operate standard office equipment Ability to walk short distances Ability to prepare and analyzing data and figures Ability to view a computer terminal; extensive reading
