ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Synergos is seeking a Grants Manager to support the organization with research and analysis on grant opportunities, proposal and report writing, and post-award management. This is a unique opportunity to work on innovative global programming in close collaboration with country and regional teams, and to drive meaningful improvements in grants systems and processes at a dynamic organization. The Grants Manager will report to the Managing Director of Development, and serve as a critical connector between Development, Programs, and Finance. They will work closely with country and regional teams located in Bangladesh, Brazil, Ethiopia, the Middle East and North Africa, Nigeria, and South Africa, as well as other global programs. They will support partnerships with a range of current funders – including Helmsley Charitable Trust, Bloomberg Philanthropies, and the Fetzer Institute – while also helping to position new funding opportunities with both institutional and individual prospects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct research and analysis on new grant opportunities; manage information sharing and review process across teams Lead and support on submission of concept papers, LOIs, grant proposals, and reports—working collaboratively with Managing Director of Development, Senior Director of Global Programs, and program leads Work with Finance and program teams on the preparation of project budgets, monitoring of project expenditure, and grant-related financial reporting—including financial reconciliation and invoicing Ensure compliance with grants terms, regulatory requirements, donor policies, etc. Hold responsibility for managing and monitoring the full grants portfolio, including pipeline, proposal and report deadlines, payment schedules, etc. Liaise with Communications and other teams to share grant reports and highlights, informing organizational collateral Provide additional fundraising and administrative support, as needed Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred but not required)
Experience:
5+ years’ professional experience in fundraising, external relations, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Ability to work independently and flexibly; comfortable balancing multiple priorities and deadlines Exceptional writing and communication skills; experience synthesizing complex information and developing messaging for multiple audiences (e.g., individual and institutional funders) Highly detailed oriented, with experience working on budget and financial management Strong research experience with the ability to translate research into strategy/action Comfortable navigating uncertainty, working across cultures, and promoting new ways of working Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, project management / collaboration tools (Monday.com; Teams) and CRM software
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary Range:
$75,000 – $95,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
