Grants Administrator
The Grants Administrator identifies potential grant opportunities that align with SCDVA’s mission, develops proposal strategies, documents relevant searches, and writes a narrative regarding the potential use of the identified funding source. They will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders in the development of the grant application and will ensure complete and competitive applications are submitted within the established guidelines. The Grants Administrator works closely with agency staff/program managers to monitor the grant budget and funds usage to ensure compliance, as well as prepares and submits reports as appropriate.
The job functions of the Grants Administrator include:
Identify potential grant opportunities, develop proposal strategies, document relevant research, and write a narrative regarding its potential agency application. Submit grants aligned with SCDVA’s mission for approval; coordinate with internal and external stakeholders in the development of grant applications and ensure complete and competitive applications are submitted within the established guidelines and timelines. Monitor grant budgets adhering to grant outcomes; analyze data to support grant proposals in evaluating program effectiveness.
Provide guidance and establish a framework for department grant program owners to effectively assist with grant management administration. Finalize department responses, incorporating and applying corrective action plan activities when necessary.
Provides oversight for the implementation and compliance of awarded grants. Monitors grant expenditures to ensure compliance with funding agency regulations, policies, and procedures. Ensures grant expenditures and activities are executed per the awarded grant. Initiates and tracks drawdowns. Serves as the primary point of contact between SCDVA and funding agencies, always ensuring the use of clear and effective communication. Works collaboratively with internal divisions to facilitate grant administration. Reports on grant progress and evaluates the effectiveness of grant programs.
Develop and maintain a grant tracking system to monitor deadlines, renewals, and the status of grants and contracts. Maintain accurate records of all submitted proposals, funded projects, and related data and documentation. Develop and delivers presentations for divisions and staff. Update Grant Business Process (SOP) as necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor’s degree and experience in business, personnel, grant-in-aid or public administration.

Additional Requirements:

Candidate will have completed one or more formal grant writing courses from an accredited institution of higher learning.
Candidate must possess planning, project management, critical-thinking, organizational and research skills.
Candidate must have the ability to multi-task, identify appropriate funding opportunities, prepare and submit grant proposals, establish and maintain effective relationships with grant recipients and with federal, state and local agencies.
Candidate must be able to plan, prepare and submit budget estimates, manage/monitor funding execution, reconcile accounting records and timely submit compliance reports as required, train, educate and advise program owners, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and exercise initiative.
Position may require overnight travel.
Position may require employee to work evenings and weekends.
Position requires routine driver duties.
Position requires frequent stooping and/or bending.
Position requires non-essential declaration.
Position may be required to report to work during emergency situations.
Must have and maintain a valid South Carolina driver’s license. Work is performed primarily in an office environment, but travel and field work will be required in areas where there are some risks and hazards that are known, predictable and controllable.
