Warehouse Shipping Associate 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars Pittsfield, MA 01201

DESCRIPTION:

This position will serve as support to the Shipping and Receiving department. Will be responsible for material handling within the facility. Ensures all material is safely, timely, and accurately moved and put away. Assists operations teams in moving material within facilities to support operations. Will take direction from management and will support the duties of the team as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 Must have working knowledge of all training memos related to shipping, receiving, and P.I.T. equipment operation.  Drive P.I.T. equipment to load and unload trailers in a safe and productive manner at all times.  Drive P.I.T. equipment/box truck to lift, stack, tier or move skids and rolls of materials in the factory.  Move levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting/clamping apparatus.  Position P.I.T. forks/prongs to load pallets, skids, rolls of material and transport load to designated area.  Unload and stack material by raising and lowering lifting device.  Follow all safety rules and wear all required safety equipment.  Maintain good housekeeping in your work area.  Maintain neat and safe shipping, finishing, pallet storage, WIP storage, and baler areas.  Will require overtime and weekend work.  Other duties may be assigned.

 Demonstrates positive work ethic, attitude, and initiative  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.  Computer skills required for successful completion and documentation of assigned tasks  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization  Ability to work independently and as with others in a teamwork environment.  Ability to safely operate box and/or fork trucks.

QUALIFICATIONS

 High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Basic computer knowledge, keyboard skills, well organized, and detail oriented.  Ability to pass Fork Truck Safety Certification and Hazardous Materials Training.
