Advancement Director Solid Rock Youth Ministries Quarryville, PA 17566

Purpose:

Solid Rock’s Advancement Director is in charge of all fundraising efforts, also referred to as advancement/development activities. They are responsible for ensuring Solid Rock receives sufficient funding to carry out its mission. The Advancement Director’s daily routine is dictated by their primary goal of securing donations for Solid Rock. This includes but is not limited to acknowledging donations and tracking donations, setting tours and meetings (face-to-face with potential donors), and prepping proposals and applications for grants. The Advancement Director will also support the Executive Director and fundraising chairs in the planning, implementation, and stewardship of fundraising events.

Note on responsibilities:

Solid Rock is experiencing significant growth in programming and physical space. We are in the midst of a capital campaign to raise funds for the reconstruction of our current building/location. This job description serves as a starting point for the advancement director role, but Solid Rock anticipates the need for changes, and invites all employees to share about workload to create a sustainable and fruitful culture.

Essential Functions:

General Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, and financial needs of Solid Rock. Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the fundraising programs of the facility. Understand and communicate the mission of Solid Rock while inviting others into that work. Create and maintain the annual advancement calendar, including events, appeals, newsletters, and the Annual Report. Collaborate with other members of the team on projects as needed. Donor Relations Strengthen relationships with local community leaders, churches, and the community at large. Attend community events, meetings, and churches to build relationships and share about Solid Rock. Evening and weekend hours may be needed, and the occasional Sunday morning. Design unique gift and relationship goals for all established and new donors. Develop a systematic strategy to actively identify, cultivate, and close commitments from new and existing donors to meet or exceed goals. Ensure the timely acknowledgment of all gifts. Fundraising Events Assist with fundraising events in collaboration with the Executive Director and event committees. Help ensure budget goals are met via contributions, grants, and other initiatives. Plan and conduct programs and activities designed to increase the visibility of Solid Rock and its fundraising efforts. Develop proposals for new fundraising efforts. Implement as approved. Grants Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies. Draft grant proposals and supporting documentation for timely submission. Capital Campaign Work with the Executive Director and consultants to develop campaign strategy, and set campaign sub-goals. Devise and manage logistics for cultivation events, and determine new ways of funding the project. Administration Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting such as required for the executive director, board of directors, and major donors. Maintain a current, thorough, and accurate database. Ensure the confidentiality of all donors. Collaborate with the bookkeeper as needed to track donations on a weekly basis. Conduct surveys and/or individual conversations to receive strategic feedback on events, programs, and initiatives.

Commitment to the mission and vision of Solid Rock Youth Ministries A passion for connecting with others and sharing stories The ability to work well with others, including the SRYM staff, dozens of volunteers in various capacities, and community members Fundraising experience and/or Education preferred Ability to track financials, manage budgets, and set fundraising goals Comfortable with setting donor meetings and soliciting funds Confidence with self-direction, goal setting and making appeals Occasional weekend and evening availability for special events, meetings and fundraisers Comfortable with specific communication, progress transparency, and reporting to the Executive Director and ability to redirect efforts as suggested by the

Salaried position $45,000-50,000/year, depending on experience
