Job Description
Operations Manager Confidential Birmingham, AL 35211 The Operation Manager is an integral part of the Warehouse Department. The salary exempt role is responsible for direct personnel management. The overall objective is to meet the operational needs of the organization at a standard that reflects the quality image and safe practices of the organization. The Operations Manager will report directly to the Vice President. Primary Objectives Ensure all warehouse employees adhere to company and OSHA safety requirements. Ensure all warehouse employees abide by company policies and procedures. Ensure the facility is properly maintained as prescribed by the standards set forth by the company and suppliers. Ensure delivery loads are correct and that load errors are within the targets established by management. Ensure adequate staffing for receiving, loading, and order selection activities. Approve personnel work schedules based on expected shipments or load requirements to maximize productivity. Assess warehouse staff productivity and redirect work as needed. Manage product rotation to ensure proper disposition of close-to-code products. Require that procedures and policies are followed to prevent loss of product from pilferage, damage, or aging. Supervise daily inventory counting to ensure proper inventory counting procedures are followed according to company guidelines. Review the inventory aging report to ensure the oldest product is used first onto delivery vehicles. Review check-in and re-inventory of repacked product from damages daily. Ensure repack effort is efficient and follows company standards. Ensure that inbound loads are stored in the warehouse according to the warehouse configuration plan. Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of the warehouse. Monitor and order all required warehouse supplies. Fully immerse in complete utilization of WMS and automation systems. Ensure the “check out” and “check in” processes operate efficiently. Implement standards for limiting breakage trends in warehouse employee functions. Manage employee timesheets and pay reporting (including variable compensation management). Ensure all warehouse personnel receive adequate training and are prepared to advance through the pre-determined career progression. Provide new employees with orientation and training. Document, discuss, and take necessary corrective action with warehouse personnel regarding inadequate performance, terminating when necessary. Foster a “Best-in-Market” warehouse team spirit. Perform annual evaluations of direct reports per company policy. Other directives as provided by management. Development of the Operations Manager Position Product knowledge Participate in executive, management, company staff meetings, and misc. meetings and seminars. Safety & DOT training Relevant safety and machinery training Emphasis on Forklift & Ergonomic training Knowledge of selling solution technology Continued employee training programs Operations Manager Requirements Flexibility in work schedule Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time Above average oral and written communications skills (Interacts well with internal & external customers) Average computer knowledge, skills, and experience Proficient with RAS Software Suite – Encompass Enthusiastic, team player interested in positive company growth Education and Experience 5-7 years of experience in warehouse management functions or coordination. Completion of some college coursework. An associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
