Position Summary The Operations Manager is a senior-level leader responsible for driving production throughput while ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and delivery standards. This role focuses on maximizing output, minimizing downtime, and eliminating bottlenecks to meet and exceed customer expectations. Ensure manufacturing operations are executed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with internal and regulatory standards. A strong emphasis on production optimization and fostering a high-performance culture across the team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Production Maximization & Efficiency Lead efforts to maximize production output while maintaining elevated levels of product quality and consistency. Identify and eliminate process inefficiencies, production delays, and equipment bottlenecks. Optimize labor, material, and machine utilization to improve yield and throughput. Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) daily, including output rates, cycle times, OEE, and takt time; take corrective actions to address deviations. Develop and execute continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles. Team Leadership Manage and mentor production supervisors and staff to ensure consistent and high-level performance. Align team objectives with organizational goals for productivity, quality, and safety. Create an environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and professional growth. Safety and Regulatory Compliance Champion a culture of safety and lead by example in upholding OSHA and internal safety policies. Conduct regular safety audits, enforce safe work practices, and lead root cause analyses for incidents. Ensure all employees are properly trained and equipped with appropriate PPE and understand safety protocols. Collaborate with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) teams on risk assessments and preventive measures. Quality Assurance Work closely with the Quality team to ensure production processes meet ISO standards and customer specifications. Implement quality control measures at each stage of production to minimize defects and rework. Monitor quality trends and lead corrective actions to resolve systemic issues. Operational Planning & Coordination Develop production schedules in coordination with planning and supply chain teams to ensure timely order fulfillment. Ensure accurate data reporting, including shift performance, scrap rates, and downtime causes. Coordinate with maintenance to schedule equipment upkeep and prevent unscheduled downtime. Qualifications and Experience Education Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred or equivalent experience. Experience Minimum 7 years of production or operations management experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal coatings, finishing, or related industrial fields. Proven track record in increasing production throughput and reducing cycle times through process improvement. Skills and Competencies Strong production planning and operational execution capabilities. Proficiency in analyzing KPIs and using data to drive decisions. In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and root cause analysis. Leadership presence with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient in ERP (Epicor) and Microsoft Office Suite. Working Conditions This position requires a consistent presence on the production floor. Must be able to work in environments with noise, heat, chemicals, and moving machinery. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory in designated areas.
