Position Summary The Director of IT Operations and Security is a senior leader responsible for the availability, security, scalability, and governance of enterprise IT systems. This role leads infrastructure and cloud operations, system administration, information security, and corporate end-user computing. The Director also owns key operational functions such as incident management, problem management, change control, and disaster recovery, ensuring resilient and compliant operations. This role partners cross-functionally with support, construction, and business stakeholders, and provides governance and oversight for technology standards in new and existing school environments. Responsibilities IT Operations & Infrastructure Leadership Own system uptime, performance, and availability across corporate and cloud-hosted environments. Oversee daily operations of infrastructure, hybrid networks, identity services, and enterprise platforms. Lead configuration management, capacity planning, and monitoring strategies to anticipate and remediate issues. Incident, Problem, and Change Management Define and enforce a robust incident management framework, including Tier 3 escalations and major incident response protocols. Lead problem management by driving root cause analysis (RCA), documenting lessons learned, and implementing preventive measures. Govern the change management process, ensuring business impact is assessed, risk is managed, and communication is clear. Track and report on operational KPIs (MTTR, uptime %, change success rate). Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Own and maintain the enterprise Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BCP) strategy. Ensure DR plans are documented, tested regularly, and aligned to critical business systems. Partner with security and compliance to address resilience and recovery readiness. Security Operations & Risk Governance Lead information security operations across endpoints, infrastructure, and SaaS platforms. Implement policies aligned with

NIST, ISO

27001, and other security frameworks. Oversee access control, patching, device compliance, vulnerability response, and data protection efforts. Coordinate incident response with internal and external partners. Corporate End-User Computing & Standards Define standards for corporate desktop/laptop provisioning, patching, software deployment, and imaging. Provide technical escalation support and enforce policies across devices and access methods. Govern tooling and endpoint lifecycle management to maintain consistency and reduce support complexity. Platform & Systems Administration Administer and govern Microsoft O365 and Azure Cloud Environments Provide oversight for backup systems, user lifecycle, compliance rules, and GPO management. Ensure performance optimization, cost control, and licensing efficiency across the Microsoft stack. Vendor & Cost Management Lead IT vendor contract negotiations, renewals, and performance enforcement. Maintain vendor scorecards and SLA accountability. Oversee hardware, software, and platform lifecycle planning with clear cost-benefit governance. Strategic Technology Enablement Provide technology leadership for schools, defining readiness standards, architecture, and lifecycle governance. Set refresh policies for technology systems in coordination with operations and customer support. Ensure all technology plans for schools align with enterprise architecture, security, and scalability goals. Leadership & Team Development Hire, mentor, and grow a high-performing team across infrastructure, systems, and security domains. Set clear goals, establish performance metrics, and conduct coaching and professional development. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous learning, and inclusive collaboration. Experience and Competencies 10+ years of experience in IT operations, infrastructure, security, asset management, vendor management, and IT service management. 5+ years in a leadership role managing IT support, security, and infrastructure teams. Must have hands-on experience managing Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud environments. Strong understanding of IT asset management (ITAM) and desktop management best practices. Proven track record in incident response, problem management, IT security operations, and vendor negotiations. Experience managing cloud platforms (Azure preferred), IT budgets, and cost control strategies. Experience of DevOps practices and tools. Skills & Competencies Leadership and team management with a focus on service excellence. Strong knowledge of

ITIL, NIST, ISO

27001, and compliance frameworks. Deep expertise in Microsoft 365 administration, security, and governance. Strong experience with Azure infrastructure, security, and cost optimization. Expertise in vendor management, contract negotiation, and cost optimization. Ability to analyze and improve IT processes for operational efficiency. Strong understanding of desktop management, endpoint security, patching, and device compliance. Excellent stakeholder communication and collaboration skills. Highly Desired Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field. Experience in a global, multi-site organization. Relevant certifications such as

ITIL, CISSP, CISM, PMP.

Deep knowledge of cloud platforms and cybersecurity frameworks.
