This position leads a para-military Protective Force Training and Operations program in excess of 550 personnel. The Protective Force organization is made up of exempt, and nonexempt employees to include members of the International Guard Union of America (IGUA). This position is required to effectively manage the entire Protective Force program with a budget of over $135M. This position requires the demonstrated ability to develop, implement and lead a wide range of protective force activities to include, but not limited to: routine and emergency operations, training; protective force logistics, DOE order compliance (ability to interpret and implement DOE requirements), resource management, and documented level of success in directing the Department/Program or missions at varied levels of responsibility.
The employee’s primary duty is management of all assigned security programs and subdivision thereof, and incudes duties such: interviewing; selecting and training employees; setting and adjusting pay and work hours, maintaining records; appraising employee productivity and grievances; and planning and apportioning work among employees. The employee is accountable for all output of subordinate’s work. Additionally, the employee must maintain strategic relationships and timely communication with counterparts from NNSA, YFO, and other
NNSA/DOE
sites.

Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 12 years of relevant experience with a minimum 5 years of management experience
OR Twenty or more years of relevant education, training and/or progressive experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years of experience requirements for this posting; must include, at a minimum, 5 years of management experience
Preferred Job Requirements
Position requires a working knowledge and understanding of protective force programs and related business policies, order and laws
Ability to prepare and analyze various programmatic impacts for reporting purposes
Ability to review and approve operations actions relating to Protective Force roles and responsibilities
Ability to communicate with internal and external customers using verbal and written methods

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
