Job Description
Business Development Manager – Laboratory Equipment Sourcing & Channels Development AmpTech Solutions Longwood, FL 32750 About the Role Amp Tech Instruments is seeking a senior-level Business Development Manager to lead growth across sourcing and channel development in the laboratory equipment sector. This is not a marketing or inside sales role – it’s a position for someone who understands how to uncover opportunities early, build institutional trust, and actively grow both supply and resale networks. The ideal candidate has deep experience in business development within capital equipment, industrial assets, or scientific instrumentation – and is highly skilled at building relationships in person, on the phone, and across the industry.
This is a forward-facing role:
charisma, presence, and communication are non-negotiable. You’ll work directly with the executive team to expand upstream acquisition opportunities and downstream buyer relationships, while also helping structure the team and strategy for scale. Key Responsibilities Drive full laboratory buyouts by identifying closures, relocations, and surplus opportunities before they reach auctions or public listings. Identify and secure new sourcing opportunities for laboratory equipment (laboratory closures , relocations, surplus inventory). Build and maintain direct relationships with procurement leads, lab managers, facilities directors, and operational stakeholders. Develop and manage a broker and partner network to increase inbound opportunity flow. Expand downstream sales channels by developing recurring relationships with wholesale buyers and resellers. Represent Amp Tech at conferences, conventions, and industry events to strengthen presence and network. Actively engage in strategic outreach – phone calls, face-to-face meetings, and direct follow-ups – not passive lead intake. Collaborate with leadership on targeting, positioning, and reporting. Hire, mentor, and manage additional BD team members or support contractors as needed. Establish scalable, repeatable processes for outreach and relationship management. Required Background ideally within capital equipment, laboratory instrumentation, or institutional B2B. Demonstrated success in building and managing sourcing pipelines, strategic accounts, or procurement relationships. Experience operating across both upstream acquisition and downstream resale ecosystems. Track record of growing deal flow through direct engagement and relationship-building – not through marketing funnels alone. Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication – strong presence on the phone and in-person. Experience hiring or mentoring junior team members and establishing internal BD operations. Ability to operate autonomously and strategically, while reporting clearly to executive leadership. Preferred Qualifications Background in laboratory equipment resale, surplus asset recovery, or scientific instrumentation. Existing network in labs, research centers, academia, biotech, or industrial procurement. Experience building partnerships and presence through event attendance and outreach campaigns. Travel Requirements Travel as needed (approx. 20-40%) for in-person meetings, site visits, and industry events.
