POSITION SUMMARY
The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies to ensure the organization’s procurement needs are met in a cost-effective, timely manner. Initially, this role will focus on the new ice cream and blending businesses. This role involves identifying suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships to achieve the best value for the company. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and align sourcing strategies with the overall business objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and Implement Sourcing Strategies:
Create and execute sourcing strategies that meet current and future business needs, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and supply continuity.
Identify and Evaluate Suppliers:
Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and select the most suitable suppliers based on cost, quality, and reliability.
Negotiate Contracts:
Lead contract negotiations with suppliers to secure the best terms and conditions, including pricing, delivery schedules, and service levels.
Manage Supplier Relationships:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, monitor their performance, and address any issues that arise to ensure continuous improvement. Collaborate with
Internal Stakeholders:
Work closely with internal departments, such as operations, finance, and quality assurance, to understand their needs and ensure that sourcing strategies align with business goals.
Monitor Market Trends:
Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in the sourcing process.
Maintain Procurement Records:
Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of all procurement activities, including contracts, supplier evaluations, and performance metrics.
Ensure Compliance:
Ensure that all sourcing activities comply with company policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) is preferred. 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, with a proven track record of successfully managing supplier relationships and negotiating contracts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions. Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade others. Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Knowledge of procurement software and tools, such as ERP systems and e-sourcing platforms. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high degree of initiative and self-motivation.
Travel:
Willingness to travel as needed to meet with suppliers and attend industry events.
