JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree preferred.
Certification or Licensure:
Valid Georgia educator’s teaching certificate.
Skills:
Demonstrated knowledge of effective practices in curriculum, instruction, program development, school operations, and pupil services. Ability to work effectively with teachers and other educational colleagues. Ability to motivate, encourage, and work with staff to inspire outstanding performance and positive morale. Demonstrated skills in organization, planning, and decision making. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to model professional, moral, and ethical standards. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and various integrated applications
Work Experience:
Three years of successful teaching experience in education. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.

PRIMARY DUTY
As a Program Specialist, the position will assist the program administrator with reports and assessment related to the students and will perform other duties as needed. This position serves as a liaison to schools, counselors, and the program administrator on matters related to course management and enrollment, program requirements, policies and procedures, and other administrative matters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assists the program administrator with establishing a climate conducive to learning, defining roles, planning, and coordinating effective instructional programs.
2. Assists with oversight of programs and services required to achieve excellence and continuous improvement consistent with school district’s goals.
3. Assist the program administrator with compiling, analyzing, and evaluating the program and student achievement data to develop and implement the school improvement academic achievement and management plan.
4. Assist with the development and implementation of a school discipline policy that is consistent with the school district’s policy on Student Rights and Responsibilities and state law. 5. Assists with the administration and support of the state and local standardized testing processes and policies.
6. Ensures that the school district’s policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws are followed.
7. Assist in planning and monitoring the programs budget and ensure compliance of expenditures with the budget.
8. Assists with evaluating teachers and other support staff according to the school district’s policies and procedures.
9. Works with teachers to improve their teaching practices through coaching, professional development, modeling, and collaborative planning.
10. Assist with fostering a work climate that supports both student and staff success and promotes respect and appreciation for all students, teachers, staff, and families. 11. Serve as the liaison between teachers, parents, families, and the community.
12. Establish and maintain relationships with parents and other community organizations to ensure on-going communication and initiate activities which foster productive parent and community involvement.
13. The employee shall carry out such other and further duties, whether specifically listed above or not, as are assigned or required by such employee’s supervisor, other appropriate school personnel, law board policy administrative regulation, department handbook, as are reasonably necessary to the efficient operation of the school system and its mission.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, and sit. Travel may be required for this position.
