As part of the International Trade team within Commerce’s Division of Business Services, assist, assist in the implementation of strategic programmatic activities, aimed at maximizing the potential for South Carolina companies to market and sell their products and services overseas.
With deep understanding of the objectives, eligibility criteria and reporting requirements of the South Carolina Export Incentives Program, support the International Trade Team lead with its successful management and implementation.
Identify and substantively engage with South Carolina businesses, which currently export or have the potential to export, creating awareness of the services offered by the International Trade Program, and of the opportunities available to them through the program.
Under limited supervision by the International Trade Manager, plan, recruit and execute companies’ participation in state-led international trade missions and trade shows, to increase their brand awareness and sales opportunities overseas. Support all participating companies prior to, during, and after the event with high attention to detail and quality customer service.
Continually promote and educate businesses on the South Carolina Export Incentives Program. Recruit new companies to the program while building on the relationships created with existing program participants.
Support the Export Incentives Program application review and approval processes. In direct collaboration with Commerce’s finance team, collect, review and approve necessary documentation for processing of reimbursements.
Respond to general trade related inquires addressed to Commerce. Ensure that assistance is provided in a friendly, timely and professional manner.
Deliver presentations at partner events, bringing awareness to the benefits of exporting and highlighting international opportunities for South Carolina companies as assigned by Program Manager.
Manage partnerships with state, federal and private organizations to support companies’ export efforts.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in International Studies, Business/Economics, Marketing, or related area and experience in marketing, economic development, sales or customer service. Experience in international marketing/sales, logistics and supply chain, a plus.
Understanding of international trade, in general, and export mechanisms, in particular. Knowledge of the agency’s mission, programs and goals. Ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships with South Carolina’s businesses. Ability to plan, organize, and deliver complex special projects.
Excellent communications skills (both written and oral).
Ability to professionally and effectively deliver public speaking presentations. Ability to collect, analyze and consolidate information and prepare reports. Customer Service orientation, advanced computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite a must. Familiarity with CRM software and with federal grants a plus.
Must possess a valid driver’s license for frequent travel throughout the state. Must have the ability to obtain a passport for occasional overseas travel. Additional Comments
