Project Management PMP 5 years Project management Bachelor’s degree ASME codes & standards Senior level Leadership Full Job Description The primary job of the Director of Project Management•Steel Industry is to effectively manage the project management department along with continuous oversight on all projects. This includes proactively planning, executing and oversight management of all aspects of projects for safety, schedule, quality, contract compliance and budget adherence. Oversee communication with the client’s corporate contact. Must be able to handle multiple projects in various industries simultaneously, utilizing associated company software platforms. Primary objective is to safely deliver all project/products from startup to completion on time, within scope and cost while maintaining positive customer relations
Essential Functions:
Implement departmental improvements and changes as well as managing productivity, quality, and production oversight. Maintain department morale and company culture throughout difficult situations. Plan, monitor, appraise, and document PM contributions working with executive management and corporate HR. Enforce existing company policies and standard operating procedures and proactively lead continuous improvement in the department. Oversee project management tracking tools such as PCO Log, Contract Documents, and Project Status Reports. Plan and assist in Kick Off Meeting, Production Meetings, client meetings and other special instance issues. Understand company Job Cost reporting structure and fully comprehend and utilize job cost software as well as other PM software tools. Focal point of contact for PMs, other department leads and executive management as well as liaison for our field department management. Assist human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, counseling, and disciplining PMs. Clearly communicate job expectations to Project Managers. Facilitate PM training sessions to enhance the continuous improvement process (CIP). Manage Project Managers in accordance with the Project Manager manual and Project Manager job description. Proactively maintain positive communication between client and company ensuring all are kept fully informed, including internal upper management. Be familiar with and review new project contracts, SOW, schedules, changes etc. Update/Revise the PM Manual as necessary with other departments leads for executive management review. Work with department heads and executive management to respond to issues quickly and correctly. Prepare monthly job cost budget reporting for management. Conduct assessments of direct reports For day to day operations this position will report to the Vice President while working closely with the Project Managers, EHS Directors, Detailing Manager, Shop Superintendent, QA/QC Manager, Field PMs, and Logistics Manager. Technical Competency & Development Must be able to understand drawings and the appropriate codes, standards and specifications. This includes, API, AISC
COSP, ASME, AWS D1.1, AWSD 1.5
as well as other project specific specifications and codes. Actively participate in continuous improvement of the company, department, personnel, and self. Preferred Skills Bachelor degree Project Management Professional or certificate equivalent 5+ years of leading major projects The Salary Range is $110k•130k #IND2
