In partnership with WTAE-TV, The Salvation Army Western PA Division has raised more than $17 million and provided new winter outerwear for nearly 305,000 individuals since 1986.

Overview:

The Salvation Army’s Western PA Division is seeking a detail-oriented Project Coordinator to join our team. The project Bundle-Up Coordinator will assist the project Bundle-Up Director in all fundraising responsibilities as well as providing service (new warm winter outerwear) to all The Salvation Army units throughout Western Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities include:

the development and coordination of fundraising, special events and public relations, including organizing and running project Bundle-Up social media and fundraising initiatives outlined below. The Coordinator will work closely with the Director in handling daily development activities for the program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The following events/tasks are overseen by the project Bundle-Up Director but are the responsibility of the project Bundle-Up Coordinator. Work with Marketing Director and Graphics Design Manager on all promotions via social media. Utilize social media to strengthen the brand and raise awareness, additional funds, and donors for project Bundle-Up, specifically through Instagram and Facebook Responsible for all social media and website updates Secure sponsors to underwrite cost of shirts, print material, media, and incentives Implement creative sponsorship strategies and communication to engage businesses and community support for the event Solicit via mail and telephone sponsors to participate in the event. Coordinate logistics and attend event (each January 1), creation and mailings of materials, presentations, ordering, picking up and dropping off event materials, follow-up and reporting, incentives, and development of new ideas Contact Western PA day care and elementary schools to solicit participation via telephone and/or personal meetings, and presentations Coordinate all aspects of the program including coordinating and attending events, creation and mailings of materials, incentives, picking up and dropping off program materials, follow-up, reporting and working with our digital team to manage the fundraising website Develop new opportunities for area schools (community outreach) program to include opportunities for middle & high schools and corporations (Hang a Coat program, Penny Wars, Dress Down for Bundle Up, Baskets for Bundle-Up, etc.) Assist the project

Bundle-Up Director:

Oversee logistics for sponsored shopping trips Communications with all stores & managing staff Securing & assignment of site coordinators (development staff & DHQ officers) for sponsored trips Coordinate all bussing transportation logistics for personal shopping trips Work with Director to coordinate and assign volunteers for each shopping location Update and maintain detailed spreadsheet to include all shopping trip information Organize & provide packets to site coordinators and prepare them for shopping trips Attend and help coordinate personal shopping activities on location Help maintain proper record keeping for all project Bundle-Up Shopping Overall coordination & oversight of processing of vouchers, receipts, and batch forms for all project Bundle-Up shopping Assist the Corps in tracking of their PBU allocation and spending Assist in securing donations of new merchandise, certificates, cash, in-kind needs with a suggested minimum total retail value of $100 Assist in the data entry of auction donors & item description via the online platform Greater Giving Assist in the closing of auction details by mailing items to winning bidders Recruit and train telethon volunteers

  • including phone operation, pledge processing, food assistance, registration, security, and other needs Secure all donations of food & coordination of pick-ups/delivery Coordination of catering contract for the VIP hour Assist in soliciting and securing donations for the Hole-In-Won Auction Work with project Bundle-Up Director on giveaway ideas Create signage for day of event and assist with day of activities for the event Handle all logistics for the event including but not limited to program, day of signage, PowerPoint for event, table tents, and other items as they arise
Administrative Duties:

Assist the Director with processing internal PR including thank you letters, signs, mail merger, purchase of event supplies, etc. Work with Director to develop programs and events to engage a younger audience. Create new strategies for cause awareness and cause marketing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Proven track record of fundraising required. Proven people skills, especially with board members, community leaders, the media, sponsors, donors, staff, and volunteers. Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to prioritize and multi-task Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Social Media proficiency All three PA Clearances required upon employment and thereafter upon renewal date: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Request for Criminal Record, and Fingerprint based federal criminal history. Must successfully complete The Salvation Army’s KeepSAfe required training. Will respect and promote the interest of The Salvation Army. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent fundraising experience required Valid PA driver’s license required Acknowledgement of Religious Purposes of the Salvation Army The employee acknowledges that he/she has been informed and understands The Salvation Army’s religious purpose and status as a church.
