Full-Time Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Structural Steel Estimator and Assistant Project Manager to join our team. This dual-role position requires a professional with experience in estimating and managing structural steel projects from conception through completion. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with clients, vendors, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimating:

• Review architectural and structural drawings to prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Perform take-offs of steel materials including beams, columns, connections, and miscellaneous metals.
• Solicit quotes from suppliers and subcontractors and evaluate them for accuracy and competitiveness.
• Prepare and submit detailed bid proposals within deadlines.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
• Maintain and update a database of material costs, labor rates, and subcontractor pricing.

Project Management:

• Oversee awarded projects from kickoff and assist through final completion.
• Develop project timelines, schedules, and budgets.
• Coordinate with fabrication and field teams to ensure project milestones are met.
• Assist with project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and closeout packages.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in structural steel estimating and/or project management.
• Strong knowledge of steel fabrication and erection practices.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with industry-standard estimating software (e.g., Tekla EPM, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel).
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
