Full Job Description Position Summary:
At Orlando Hand Surgery Associates, we are proud to deliver expert-level, patient-focused care for hand and upper extremity conditions. As a key liaison between our providers, patients, and surgical facilities, the Surgical Scheduler plays a vital role in ensuring seamless coordination of surgical services and an exceptional patient experience. This role is responsible for coordinating all aspects of surgical scheduling, including pre- and post-operative appointments, insurance verifications, medical clearances, documentation, and patient financial communications. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in surgical scheduling or surgical coordination required Working knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and insurance processes Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and EMR systems Strong customer service and administrative experience in a healthcare setting Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
Preferred Skills & Competencies:
Friendly, professional, and patient-focused communication style Ability to manage a high volume of calls, documentation, and coordination tasks Strong organizational skills with sharp attention to detail Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with clinical teams Familiarity with HIPAA and patient confidentiality regulations
Key Responsibilities:
Schedule all surgical procedures (in-office, outpatient, inpatient) as directed by providers Coordinate pre-operative and post-operative appointments Request and track medical clearances and pre-surgical testing Obtain and verify surgical benefits, authorizations, and pre-certifications Generate surgical cost estimates and coordinate patient deposit collection Communicate regularly with patients, surgical centers, and referring offices Respond to and manage all incoming surgery-related calls, faxes, and emails Ensure DME and surgical supplies are available and accounted for prior to procedures Accurately scan and upload all documentation into the patient’s electronic medical record Complete and submit disability forms as required Display flexibility to support additional administrative needs as they arise Why Join OHSA?
