Overview
The Manager, Supply Chain reports to the Director, Supply Chain and is responsible for leading a team of ~15 buyers to procure and manage subcontracts for all purchase specification / major equipment for the Company. Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), the Manager, Supply Chain ensures compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards while coordinating with other key stakeholders to meet overall milestones
Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership:
Implement safety programs within assigned areas.
Monitor and drive compliance with safety procedures.
Lead daily safety initiatives and housekeeping standards.
Ensure proper safety training and certification compliance.
Project Execution:
Direct operations within assigned area.
Manage area-specific schedule and resource requirements.
Coordinate work execution between divisions and support functions.
Monitor and control costs and schedule performance.
Supply Chain Management:
Overseeing subcontract development and order placement to meet BIW financial and operational objectives.
Ensure buyers understand and follow standard work procedures, instructions and management metrics.
Develop material estimates at completion and spending forecasts.
Perform supervisory and administrative duties including safety, performance assessment, and time accounting verification.
Lead area supervision.
Manage area workforce and resource allocation.
Prepare and present area performance reviews.
Training and Development:
Build a strong and professional staff and fostering career growth of BIW buyers.
Oversee training and qualification programs.
Mentor/develop area supervision capabilities.
Implement skill development initiatives.
Team Collaboration and Communication:
Work collaboratively with BIWs engineering, operations, program office, contracts and finance organizations to meet BIW business objectives.
Lead meetings and progress reviews.
Maintain effective communication across all key stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement:
Implement BOS practices within area.
Lead process improvement initiatives.
Drive productivity and quality improvements.
Execute supplier performance improvements (i.e On-Time Delivery).
Responsibilities
Bachelors degree, preferably in supply chain or business management, or 10 or more years of supply chain business experience required; defense industry experience preferred.
Qualifications
10+ years’ Supply Chain or Procurement experience required.
3+ years’ supervisory experience required.
Proven ability to develop, lead, and motivate people.
Proven team-building skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other functions.
Proven ability to lead complex projects.
Superior understanding of supply chain function.
Proven ability to manage complex projects.
