Responsibilities The Communications Department isresponsible to build, grow and protect Mayo Clinic’s reputation ina way that shapes the external environment and nurtures the cultureto help achieve the mission of the organization. Departmentfunctions consist of reputation management including thoughtleadership and issues/crisis response; client communications andengagement programs; staff engagement; content and channels;government and community engagement; strategy and insights; visualcommunications, and communications services. The Creative Directorwithin the Communications Department, leads and inspires a talentedteam of designers, illustrators, and visual artists to deliverinnovative, high-quality creative solutions. This leader isresponsible for developing and executing visual strategies thatsupport Mayo Clinic’s brand objectives, audience insights, andproject goals. The work will include translating vision intocompelling concepts for both static and digital campaigns, events,executive engagement, and enterprise initiatives.
KeyResponsibilities:
Creative Leadership:
Lead and inspire a team ofdesigners, illustrators, and visual artists to produce innovativeand high-quality creative work.
Strategic Vision:
Develop andexecute visual strategies that align with brand objectives,audience insights, and project goals.
Concept and ExecutionDevelopment:
Ability to translate vision into the creation andexecution of compelling concepts for static and digital campaigns,events, executive engagement and enterprise initiatives as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with executive,communications and marketing teams to ensure alignment of visualstorytelling with messaging and business goals.
ContributorMindset:
Assist in the design and execution of creative needsincluding facilitation of photo shoots with internal team andvendors.
Project Oversight:
Excellence in managing multipleprojects simultaneously, balancing creative vision with tightdeadlines and budget constraints.
Executive Client & StakeholderCommunication:
Present ideas, concepts, and final work tostakeholders, incorporating feedback effectively.
TrendAwareness:
Stay up to date with design trends, emergingtechnologies, and industry best practices to keep the brandvisually fresh and competitive. Qualifications
- Requires amaster’s degree in a related field plus 5 years of relevant workexperience; or a bachelors degree in a related field plus 7 yearsof relevant work experience.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s orMaster’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Visual Communication,or a related field
Preferred Technical Proficiency:
Expertise inAdobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, AfterEffects), Sketch, Figma, or other relevant design tools.
