Job Description Help for Job Description. Job Description Help for Job Description. Overview Takes ophthalmic photography on adults and children. Performs ophthalmic imaging and related education, research, and publication functions for the Ophthalmology Section. Responsibilities
1. Performs a full range of specialized anterior and posterior segment ophthalmic photography on both adults and children, including, but not limited to external photography, stereo fundus photography, digital fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography, stereo slit lamp and endothelial cell photography.
2. Assists with the development of ophthalmic photography as a formal discipline. Develops training philosophies and delivery methods to ensure high quality imaging.
3. Assists in the planning, development coordination, and delivery of ophthalmic related education, publication, and research projects for the Section. Mentors medical students and residents.
4. Maintains ophthalmic photography equipment and supplies. Participates in selection of specialized ophthalmic photography equipment, and in the preparation of budgets for ophthalmic photography.
5. Performs photography in an OR setting.
6. Provides for audio/visual support for departmental programs, as well as technical/artistic support of displays and publications, and for general photographic and computer services.
7. Participates in professional development initiatives and maintain affiliations with professional organizations. May perform formal presentations of research

- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Imaging or Photography with 3 years of prior experience in an ophthalmic photography or biomedical communications position, or the equivalent required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, perform multiple projects concurrently, handle frequent interruptions, and respond quickly to emergent requests.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including proven writing and public speaking skills essential.
- Must have excellent computer capabilities with the ability to quickly learn new applications.
- Knowledge of technical and administrative elements necessary for the efficient operation of a university based ophthalmic photography unit. Required Licensure/Certifications
- Certified Retinal Angiographers (CRETA) within five (5) years of hire date.
- BLS required within 30 days of hire date.
