Job Summary:
The Adult Education ELA (English Language Arts) and Coordinator/Instructor for ESL (English as a Second Language) and will provide engaging, student-centered instruction to adult learners in Union and Bradley Counties while also serving as the lead coordinator for ESL program development and implementation. This position is responsible for designing and delivering curriculum that improves students’ literacy skills and English language proficiency to support personal, educational, and career goals. This is a full-time, 12-month, 100% grant-funded position with flexible scheduling for day and evening instruction. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.
Salary:
Annual salary to commensurate with education and experience. Plus, excellent benefit package.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver ELA and ESL instructional content aligned with state standards and program goals.
- Interpret appropriate placement and progress assessments (e.g., TABE CLAS-E).
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance, student progress, and assessment data in compliance with state and federal reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with other Adult Education staff to recruit and enroll learners, conduct orientations, and provide wraparound student support including transitions to further education or employment.
- Coordinate the delivery of ESL services across multiple sites, including scheduling, curriculum planning, and materials management.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and required training.
- Promote Adult Education programs through outreach activities and employer engagement.
- Travel between Union and Bradley County instructional sites.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Adult Education.

- Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and support diverse populations of adult learners.
- Strong classroom management and instructional planning skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-site environment.
- Ability to develop curriculum and adapt instruction based on learner needs and assessment data.
- Proficient in integrating technology into instruction (e.g., learning management systems, educational software apps, etc.).
- Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office, email, and online learning platforms.
- Capable of coordinating and managing instructional programs across multiple locations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, students, and community partners.
- Organizational skills to manage schedules, documentation, and program reporting.
- Flexibility and creativity in addressing diverse learner needs.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, TESOL, or related field.
- Valid Arkansas teacher’s license.
- Teaching experience in adult education, K-12, or ESL settings.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Current Arkansas Adult Education certification or eligibility to obtain within three years.
- Experience coordinating ESL programs or supporting adult English learners.
- Bilingual abilities (especially Spanish/English).
- Familiarity with adult education data systems and digital instructional tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods in office or classroom settings.
- Frequent travel between instructional sites in Union and Bradley Counties.
- Occasionally lift instructional materials or equipment up to 25 lbs.
