THIS IS A ONE YEAR TEACHING POSITION AUGUST 25, 2025 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2025.

POSITION

OVERVIEW

The High School Teacher is responsible for the delivery of specified course content. The goal of the High School Teacher is to provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth and to enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops and implements plans for the curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation is required.
Prepares lessons that reflect accommodation for individual student differences.
Presents the subject matter according to guidelines established by Massachusetts Department of Education frameworks, board policies, and administrative regulations.
Plans and uses appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned.
Conducts assessment of student learning styles and use results for instructional activities.
Works cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students.
Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to state requirements.
Uses technologies in the teaching/learning process.
Assists students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study.
Consistently assesses student achievement through formal and informal testing.
Assumes responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and may sponsor outside activities approved by the school.
Presents a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school.
Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Manages student behavior in the classroom and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations.
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
Assists in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.
Establishes and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents.
Maintains a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
Uses acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Participates in the staff development program.
Demonstrates interest and initiative in professional improvement.
Demonstrates behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible.
Keeps informed of and comply with state, city and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
Compiles, maintains and file all reports, records and other documents required.
Attends and participates in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in assigned subject area.
Massachusetts Educator’s License, Grades 9-12 in assigned subject area.
Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities.
Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
Those personal and professional characteristics necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position
Employment based on successful completion of a CORI background check.
Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS-PREFERRED

Master’s Degree
A minimum of two years’ teaching experience at the secondary level

TERMS:

This is a 10 month based on the school year.
