Basketball Full Job Description Description Summary:

Reports to the Head Basketball Coach. Responsible for providing representation of student athletes of Alabama A&M University at the NCAA Division I level in Men’s Basketball.

Examples of Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for assisting in recruiting, organizing, motivating and counseling student athletes. Responsible for the associated with recruiting: Letters of Intent (signing) and Official visits. Monitors the students’ class attendance, study hall, grades, commencement ceremonies and travel. Serves as a role model for student-athletes. Responsible for discipline, personal appearance, conduct, image and general behavior of all student athletes recruited and signed for Men’s Basketball. Supervises staff and students in the department, who are assigned to this program. Acts as consultant and schedules team travel, hotel, meals and etc. Evaluates athletes on physical condition and advises them on maintaining maximum physical fitness for participation in athletic competition. Serves as an expert in students athletes and educates them on issues affecting intercollegiate athletics. Responsible for assuring that athletes maintain academic eligibility and records of participation are kept and forwarded to the proper agencies and authorities. Responsible for the maintenance and accountability of equipment (i.e. uniforms, field equipment). Perform other duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.): A Bachelor’s degree is required but a Master’s degree is preferred. High level of experience in the management of intercollegiate basketball. Must have demonstrated successful experience in dealing with student-athletes academic related programs.

Supplemental Information Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of all aspects of counseling basic skills in intercollegiate sports. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to present information in a clear and concise manner. Ability to establish favorable relationships between the University and other colleges and Universities. Ability to compose and prepare reports, records and correspondence. Must have strong interpersonal communication skills and be able to work well with others.
