Swim Instructor North Penn YMCA- Indian Valley Family YMCA Harleysville, PA 19438 Swim Instructor Needed for the North Penn YMCA- Indian Valley Family YMCA branch.

GENERAL FUNCTION

: Under direct supervision of the Aquatic director, the Swim Instructor is responsible for organizing and instructing various levels of swim ability classes. The instructor will monitor and complete progress reports on all children each session. No Experience Necessary, we will train! This position may involve early morning, evening and weekend responsibilities. This job is performed to standard when all work is completed accurately and on time, with minimal supervision.

SHIFTS AVAILABLE

: Early morning, afternoon, evening.

Qualifications:

Requires basic swim abilities and knowledge in all four competitive strokes of freestyle/crawl, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, YSL preferred Effective Communication; written, oral and through presentations Must have strong collaborative work ethic Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles

RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain quality service by following organization standards Keep accurate records of all participants’ skill levels and progress and share responsibility for interpreting and communicating child’s progress to parents Assist in set up and break down of necessary aquatic equipment and ensure that all equipment is in safe working Maintain cleanliness and organization of pool deck Ensure the safety, well-being, and progressive skill development of all group swim lesson students Lead energizing, fun, safe, and educational lessons, in accordance with YMCA of the USA guidelines and procedures Incorporate all five-program components: personal safety, water orientation/stroke development, water sports and games, rescue and personal growth by leading energizing, fun, safe and educational classes Know, understand and consistently apply safety procedures for pool and aquatic area Effectively communicate with members, participants and staff Ability to process, understand and respond appropriately to emergency situations Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Perform any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the North Penn YMCA Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
