Job Summary The ETSU Department of Computing seeks new faculty members for the BlueSky Tennessee Institute (BlueSky), an ETSU off-campus instructional site located at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee headquarters in Chattanooga, TN. BlueSky is a unique partnership that pairs workforce development with an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Computing, with a concentration in Information Systems and an emphasis on Health Systems Security and Analytics. The faculty members will reside and work in Chattanooga, TN. Chattanooga, the Scenic City, is located along the beautiful Tennessee River as it turns to the north, winding around the base of Lookout Mountain. Situated within 150 miles of Atlanta, Knoxville, Nashville, Huntsville, and Birmingham, Chattanooga is easily accessible by car or plane. It has numerous outdoor recreation options, sporting events, a vibrant arts and theater scene, and many wonderful restaurants. The area boasts excellent educational options, with several public, magnet, private, and parochial schools. This is an open-rank faculty search. Depending on the experience and credentials of the candidate, the appointment will be made at the Lecturer, Professor of Practice, or Assistant Professor rank. The position may be appointed as a tenure track or contract faculty appointment as determined in the hiring process. Ideal candidates will possess a passion for teaching undergraduate students a broad range of Computing subjects. In addition, all candidates must be willing to participate in service and outreach activities that support the Department of Computing and BlueSky. Faculty hired in a tenure-track assistant professor position must conduct research as part of their contract. Because of the BlueSky program’s accelerated nature and cohort model, the desire is to have a twelve-month appointment with the faculty member teaching courses in Fall, Spring, and Summer. This timeline is negotiable for tenure-track appointments. Twelve-month faculty have numerous opportunities for paid time off, including an accrual of two days per month for annual (personal) leave and an accrual of one day per month of sick leave. Other types of leave are also available in addition to 16 paid holidays per year. The value of employment at ETSU goes far beyond salary. Regular benefited ETSU employees enjoy a full range of benefits, services, and programs including paid time off & leave, paid holidays, health and life insurance, retirement, access to University facilities and services, and much more! Check out the ETSU Human Resources Benefits page for additional information.
