The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergent literacy, professional development, and data analysis, with a proven ability to lead and foster a positive, productive work environment at the school or district level. Early Learning Specialists will coordinate and support the implementation of Child Early Reading Development Education Program (CERDEP) programs and deliver professional development for state-wide, regional, and school-based audiences on the science of reading. Moreover, the Early Learning Specialist will model research-based teaching practices, incorporate adult learning theory, and drive continuous improvement through data collection and analysis. South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) Early Learning Specialists will travel to CERDEP schools four days per week. Additional duties as assigned by the Office Director. This position is located in the Office of Instructional Supports.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Ability to travel on a daily basis. SCDE Early Learning Specialists will be selected by the SCDE and will commit to performing the duties outlined above.

Employee is expected to work with a high level of independence and discretion; therefore, integrity is integral to this position. Supervision is provided by a Team Leader with additional duties as assigned by the Office Director.
