Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Performing Arts Instructor to join our vibrant Christian school community. The Performing Arts Instructor will teach students across various grade levels, fostering creativity, self-expression, and a love for the arts, all within the framework of our Christian values. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in performing arts, an understanding of Christian principles, and a desire to inspire students to use their talents to glorify God.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and teach performing arts curriculum in line with school standards and biblical teachings. This includes instruction in areas such as theater, dance, music, and vocal performance. Foster a classroom environment that is supportive, encouraging, and promotes respect, creativity, and spiritual growth. Integrate Christian values into all lessons and performances, encouraging students to express faith through their artistic talents. Organize and oversee rehearsals, auditions, and performances, ensuring that students understand the importance of collaboration, discipline, and dedication. Provide one-on-one coaching and feedback to students as needed, helping them refine their skills and overcome challenges. Collaborate with other staff members to integrate the performing arts into the broader school curriculum and activities. Assess and evaluate student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents. Encourage and guide students to use their artistic abilities to serve and minister to others, both within the school and the broader community. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with trends in performing arts education. Promote and uphold the values and mission of the school, including Christian principles in all classroom and performance settings.
Qualifications:
A strong Christian faith and commitment to living out that faith in a school environment. Associate’s or Music degree in Music, Theater, Dance, Education, or a related field recommended, but not required. Previous experience teaching performing arts to students, preferably in a K-12 setting. Ability to integrate Christian teachings into arts education. Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff. Passion for the arts and for inspiring students to discover their potential. Experience in leading and directing performances is highly desirable. A heart for mentoring students and helping them grow in both artistic skills and character.
Working Conditions:
Occasional evening and weekend hours for rehearsals and performances. Classroom and rehearsal space available on-site. Participation in school-wide events and activities as needed.
