Questions General Description

JOIN OUR TEAM AS AN ADJUNCT INSTRUCTURE I, II & III!

Provide varied and relevant instruction designed to meet the education and training needs of Fire Rescue employees in accordance with the course curriculum. Essential Job Functions The Adjunct Instructor is expected to collaborate and cooperate with other instructors and follow established goals and objectives for the course being facilitated. The Adjunct Instructor shall observe students’ work/performance to determine progress and/or provide feedback to the student and Training Division for improvement. The Adjunct Instructor shall always maintain the professional standards of Pasco County and Pasco County Fire Rescue and be able to work effectively to meet the needs of a diverse student population. The Adjunct Instructor shall demonstrate a commitment to professional development. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the principles and practices of modern firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical services methods, techniques, apparatus, and equipment, as appropriate for assignment. Knowledge of the department’s rules and regulations.
Ability to analyze situations quickly and accurately, and to determine the proper course of action. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other officers, subordinates, allied agencies, civic groups and the public.
Ability and willingness to learn and teach new methods and techniques. Knowledge of in-service and continuing education, training techniques, teaching methods, tools and aids used in instruction.
Ability to develop effective education, training techniques, teaching methods, tools and aids used in instruction.
Ability to develop effective educational material for oral and/or graphic presentation.
Ability to maintain appropriate records and prepare reports.
Ability to present educational training programs in an effective manner. Minimum Requirements

PHYSICAL SKILLS

Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication skills. Position may require climbing ladders, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, stooping and running.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Five years of experience as a paramedic; three years must be with Pasco County Fire Rescue for EMS-related courses. Consideration of credentials and experience outside of Pasco County Fire Rescue may be made on a case-by-case basis, as approved by the Fire Chief. State of Florida Fire Instructor III Certification is required for Adjunct Instruction III position and salary.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license. Certificate of Compliance from the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and raining. Must possess a State of Florida EMT or Paramedic Certification, as required for the course. Must possess a minimum of Florida Fire Instructor I Certification for fire-related classes. Other certifications required as appropriate for courses taught, including, but not limited to: Blue Card Instructor
Live Fire Training Instructor (LFTI)
State of Florida Incident Safety Officer
BLS Instructor
ACLS Instructor
EPC Instructor
PHTLS Instructor
National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMS) Level I Instructor Approved Adjunct Instructors will be eligible to teach any course or program where they do not meet the minimum qualifications as an Instructor I thru

III. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

All employees, “Exempt” and Non-Exempt,” must sign an Adjunct Instructor contract prior to being utilized in the role.
