POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT CAPS

Education Faculty Position Mount Vernon Nazarene University exists to shape lives through educating the whole person and cultivating Christ-likeness for lifelong learning and service. The University is seeking a full-time (nine-month) faculty member to support and lead adult-focused education programs within the College of Adult and Professional Studies (CAPS), beginning in fall semester 2025. Rank is open. Compensation is competitive among the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. A full complement of benefits is provided, including a health care plan, retirement contributions and tuition assistance (self and dependents).

Responsibilities include:
  • Teaching in undergraduate and graduate education programs, with an emphasis on applied pedagogy
  • Overseeing the student teaching and field placement experience, including mentorship, assessment, and course instruction
  • Coordinating program design and curriculum development for new initiatives such as an Ed.

D. in Educational Leadership

  • Assisting in the development of a new online K-12 school, including academic planning and teacher training
  • Leading creation of micro-courses and stackable certificates tailored to Ohio educators pursuing +45 licensure credits
  • Collaborating with faculty and school partners to ensure alignment, relevance, and quality in all CAPS education offerings
  • Participating in faculty governance, accreditation support, and institutional service
  • Engaging in continued scholarly and professional development
  • Other duties as assigned Qualifications for the successful candidate:
  • Evangelical Christian statement of faith, experience, and mission fit
  • Personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
  • Understanding and alignment of the heritage, doctrine, and practices of the Church of the Nazarene.
  • Doctorate in Education (Ed.

D. or Ph.D.) from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 15 years in K-12 education, with at least 5 years in administrative roles (e.g., Principal, Superintendent)
  • Professional Credentials/License:

    Valid state teaching licensure, may be expired; Valid Principal or Superintendent license, may be expired

  • Evangelical Christian statement of faith, experience, and mission fit
  • Personal commitment to Jesus Christ
  • Understanding and alignment of the heritage, doctrine, and practices of the Church of the Nazarene
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in adult instruction, leadership, and online learning models
